Advanced sliding mode control of floating container cranes

This article constructs two robust controllers using sliding mode control (SMC) techniques. The ship-crane system is operated in the complicated condition in which the disturbances due to viscoelasticity of seawater and the flexibility of handling cable are fully taken into account. With two actuators composed of trolley-moving force and container-hoisting torque, the controllers

Combined controls of floating container cranes

We construct two controllers for floating container cranes based on the combination of feedback linearization, sliding mode, and proportional-derivative controls. The disturbances composed of viscoelasticity of sea water, elasticity of suspended wire rope, and sea-excited motions of ship are fully considered. The controllers simultaneously conduct four duties: tracking the trolley to reference, lifting the container to desired cable length, reducing the axial container oscillation and container swing.

Private versus State-owned Banks: A Comparison of Technical Efficiency in the Vietnamese Banking Sector

This paper uses bootstrapped Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) models to compare the technical efficiency of private and state-owned banks in Vietnam after the country’s accessing to the WTO in 2007 (2007-2012). It is found that state-owned banks are more efficient in terms of aggregate technical efficiency than private banks using both the intermediation and operating approaches. Using the Li (1996) test we find that the primary cause of this is greater capability of state-owned banks to access productive frontier than private banks.

Does ownership affect bank performance? An analysis of Vietnamese banks in the post-WTO entry period

This study investigates the impact of financial reforms, bank characteristics, and time trends on the performance of the Vietnamese banking sector under the assumption that ownership can result in a divergence of technologies utilised by different bank groups (including state - owned, private, and foreign banks), and the fact that these groups may respond differently to the same environmental variables .

Design and Implementation of a Low Noise Block for Extended C-Band Earth Station

In this paper, we design and implement a compact low noise block (LNB) for extended C-band Earth Station in satellite communication systems which converts the radio frequency (RF) signal from extended C-band (3.4 – 3.625 GHz) to a fixed 70 MHz intermediate frequency (IF) signal. The LNB consists of a three-stage low noise amplifier, a band pass filter, a frequency mixer, a local oscillator, IF amplifiers and IF filters. It is fabricated by Rogers RO4350B substrate (εr = 3.48, hsub = 0.762mm, tan δ = 0.0035).
